A polishing hall is a power bill with a roof on it.
Cutting diamonds does not move mountains — that happens upstream at the mine. What a manufacturing floor actually consumes is electricity, water for cooling, and packaging. So those are the three we measure.
Power
Polishing wheels run continuously through the working day, and Gujarat is sunny. Rooftop solar covers part of the daytime load, which is the portion that matters because it coincides with when the wheels are actually turning.
Water
Coolant water on the wheels runs in a closed loop rather than to drain. It is filtered and returned, which also recovers the diamond dust suspended in it — that dust goes back into abrasive use rather than into the municipal system.
Packaging
Parcels go out in paper packets and card, sealed and labelled. It is the traditional packaging in this trade and it happens to be the right one: no single-use plastic leaves our dispatch bench.
What we are not going to tell you
We are not going to publish a carbon figure we cannot substantiate, or buy offsets and call the floor neutral. When we have measured something properly we will put the number here.
